Lasers use a very fine, high intensity beam of light. The beam will actually incinerate the material to produce an engraved product. The speed and power of the laser is controlled to produce differant effects. If metal is lasered, the paint is removed. Plastic and acrylics allows for both the surface to be engraved to a certain depth. These two are also capable of being cut into unique shapes as the laser can cut completly through the material. With a plaque, the beam is controlled to cut the wood to a certain depth. The grain of the wood has differant densities, producing a more vivid grain texture.
